Programme will include Grainger's Shallow Brown and Arnold's Padstow Lifeboat. This concert is a celebration of the sea, of ships and of sailors. The music, all by British composers, reflects many aspects of seafaring. The concert includes some of Stanford's Songs of the Fleet and songs of the Sea, together with music by Britten, Grainger and others. A work which will be new to Cheltenham is "Salt in the Blood" by Judith Bingham. This is a ghost story for choir and brass ensemble which brilliantly reflects the sinister nature of a mist-shrouded voyage. St Matthews Church is opposite Cheltenham Public Library, and there are plenty of carparks in the vicinity. It is well heated, and provides comfortable seating.
